What Ojibwa Recreation Area Has to Offer

When you enter the Ojibwa Recreation Area, you enter a world of mature red pines and the main campground, which is set in the red pines. The Ojibwa Recreation Area includes two unique campground settings, the Red Pines Campground and the Lakeside Campground. Additionally, it has the Sandy Point Lighthouse, pow-wow grounds, a marina, pump station for RVs, and swimming areas.

Electrical hookups and running water are available within this campground. Forty different sites are available, and the Recreation Area is working to develop more sites. These sites have fire pits and access to showers and toilet facilities. The sites are available on a first-come, first-serve basis, and no registration is needed. The Park Ranger will come to your site. See camping fees and other service fees below. At the entrance to the campgrounds is the dump station for RVs with a fee per dump or per year. Marina Overview

The Marina has 30 boat slips that rent for the season or overnight parking. The boat launch has a fee for one time launching or per season. *See the fee schedule below. Lighted buoys for channel markers into Lake Superior have been put into place starting in 2004. Baraga Village Marina, immediately across a short inlet, has a gas pump for boaters. Eight more sites are located by the marina for everyone, but there is only one electrical hookup at this location.
The Recreation Area also has two pavilions that can be rented as well. *See the fee schedule below.

Contact Information and Directions

The Ojibwa Recreation Center is located just north of the town of Baraga on US-41. The Red Pines Campground is located within walking distance of Lake Superior, and both the Sandy Point Lighthouse and Marina campgrounds are located right on Lake Superior. The Sandy Point Lighthouse campground has beautiful sand near the shore for swimming.
