Course Review for Ontonagon Golf Club

A reasonably flat course with multiple holes playing alongside each other. The first hole starts out with a par 4 that is wide open for an opening drive. The approach shot is into a fairly flat green.

The second hole is a par 3 and 144 yards. It is another open hole into a smooth green.

The third and fourth holes are relatively straightforward.

The fifth and sixth holes are back-to-back par 5s. They both play over 500 yards yet are wide open, flat, and relatively easy greens.

The seventh hole is a par 4 that plays downhill. The drive is pretty open, but the second shot can be blind if you don’t hit it far enough. The green sits in a beautiful gully with a slightly raised green.

This leads into the famous number eight hole. A par 3, 164 yards that strikes fear into any golfer. You tee off over a gully into a raised green with plummeting sides. Hit it short, right, or left, and your ball is rolling down the hill. If you drive it long over the green, the chip back onto the green will play with your nerves as no one wants to chip it long and have your ball go back down the hill. A great hole and one of the best par 3s in the Copper Country.

The ninth hole is another long par three back to the clubhouse into a green up a hill.
