Omer’s Golf Course

Discover Omer’s Golf Course and Resort

One of the best opening holes in the Copper Country belongs to the first hole at Omer’s Golf Course (i.e. formerly known as Wyandotte Shores Golf Course). A par 5 dogleg left, guarded by huge oak trees down the middle, funnels your approach shot into the green which is guarded by the pond shown in the first picture. Gorgeous! This is a 9 hole course located in Wyandotte, MI. that measures 3240 yards from the farthest tee, 113 slope rating, and a 35.2 USGA rating. Omer’s also has a clubhouse with dining, a small practice green, and a pro shop.

Course Review for Omer’s Golf Course

An incredible opening hole sets the stage for a fun round of golf. The par 5 opening hole has so many dimensions. The lark oaks that guard the fairway off the tee box, the dogleg right with woods, the pond that protects the green are all treasures on this hole.

The second hole green placement is high up on a hill and guarded by a massive oak tree in the middle. Woods are all around, and best to play left of the giant oak. The green is blind from your approach shot and not that big so expect a chip shot and putt for par.

The third hole is a classic par three. You tee off high up on a hill to a green far below. It is easy to think you will fly this green only to leave it short. The green is flat and if you have the proper distance with your club is the first good birdie opportunity.

The fourth is a nice straight par 4 with woods on your left but wide open on your right. A line of pine trees runs along the 4th and 5th fairway, so play away from them. The green is slightly raised and slopes back towards the approach shot.

The fifth hole is also a straightforward par 4 but shorter. A good drive and a relatively smooth green make this another birdie hole.

The sixth is a long par 3, uphill to a green that you can’t see from the tee box. The green sits on an island with a gully surrounding it left, right, and back. If your approach shot is straight, you should run the ball on the green from the fairway. If your shot is too hard or a bit left or right, you are in for some trouble.

The seventh hole has a hidden secret. It is a par 4 with a 90-degree dogleg right. Golfers that can hit it long and high can fly the woods and try for the green off the tee. If this scares you, there are huge pines down the middle that guard the “hairpin” to turn to the green.

The eighth hole is a par 4 dogleg right. It has a swampy gully in front of the green, and many will decide to tee off with a iron not to temp the gully.

The ninth is a long par 3 with slopes on the green. I have not seen many hit this green in my lifetime, so good luck.
