Highlight for Album: Midwest Rendezvous 2005 in Ontonagon
Midwest Rendezvous 2005 in Ontonagon
The Midwest Rendezvous was a 1st time event for the Copper Country. This year the Midwest Rendezvous chose to add the Upper Peninsula to their region and chose Ontonagon for its pre-1840 history with the fur traders, early explorers, and interactions with Native Americans. The Event was the most successful since the Midwest region was organized.

Highlight for Album: Ontonagon Bridge Removal
Ontonagon Bridge Removal
After the new Ontonagon Bridge was dedicated, workcrews immediately have gone to work to dismantle the old bridge on Hwy 64. This is the last update - 11-30-06. The water efforts needed for demolition will be shut down until next spring because of the Sturgeon coming in to spawn in the river. Only shore clean up will continue for a brief time. We will add more pictures come next spring when work resumes.

Highlight for Album: Silver Mountain in Baraga County
Silver Mountain in Baraga County
Silver Mountain stands alone just inside the southern Houghton County Line. Elevation is 1312' and its primary view looks eastward over Baraga County, the Huron Mountain Range (Mt Curwood in far distance at 1978'), and the Sturgeon River and Silver River Gorges. On the northern tip of Silver Mountain you get a view of Prickett Lake and Limestone Mountain (ele. 1100ft. Take Hwy 38 out of Baraga to Prickett Dam Rd, go 2 miles and take Forest Hwy 2270 for 5 miles. Hike up and down the Mountain is as fascinating and worthwhile as the view on top. Hike up is very strenuous.
